Jefferson is the county seat of Jackson County and has its own city school district (Jefferson City Schools) — separate from Jackson County Schools that serves the rest of the county. This matters for property values and the demographic of homeowners we work with: Jefferson City Schools is consistently rated among the better small-city districts in northeast Georgia, and Jefferson property values reflect that.
Jefferson's housing stock is varied. The historic downtown area has older homes from the late 1800s and early 1900s — Jefferson was founded in 1818 and incorporated in 1858. Newer subdivisions on the city's edges include 1990s–2010s construction. Most Jefferson homes are between 1,800 and 3,500 square feet, with median home values aligned with the broader Jackson County market.
