Insurance Claim Assistance

We work directly with your adjuster and know exactly what documentation it takes to get a legitimate claim approved.

Insurance claim work is one of our specialties. We've worked with every major carrier — State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, USAA, Liberty Mutual, Travelers, and dozens more — and we know exactly what each one needs to approve a claim quickly. Here's how the process works when you hire us.

How the Insurance Claim Process Works

  1. Free roof inspection. We come out, walk the roof, and tell you honestly whether you have damage worth filing on. Sometimes you don't — and we'll tell you that.
  2. You file the claim with your insurer. We can guide you through what to say.
  3. We meet your adjuster on-site. Walking the roof together is the single biggest factor in a claim being properly scoped.
  4. We provide a written scope of work in the industry-standard format adjusters expect (Xactimate-compatible).
  5. You receive your claim payment in two checks (ACV and depreciation, in most cases).
  6. We complete the work to manufacturer specification, and the depreciation check is released.
  7. You pay your deductible. Note that under Georgia law, a contractor cannot waive or absorb your deductible — anyone offering this is breaking the law.

ACV vs. RCV: What's the Difference?

Actual Cash Value (ACV) policies pay you the depreciated value of your damaged roof. If your roof was 12 years old when it was damaged, you'll get less than the full replacement cost, and the rest is your responsibility.

Replacement Cost Value (RCV) policies pay full replacement cost regardless of the roof's age — but typically in two checks. The first is the ACV portion (what the roof was worth at the time of loss). The second, the "recoverable depreciation," is released after the work is completed and documented.

If you're not sure which kind of policy you have, check your declarations page or call your agent. It dramatically affects what you get.

What Insurance Won't Cover

  • Wear and tear or aging. Insurance pays for sudden, accidental damage — not a roof at the end of its useful life.
  • Damage from neglect. If a small leak was ignored for years and now the deck is rotted, that's a maintenance issue.
  • Cosmetic-only hail damage on metal roofs. Some carriers exclude this even when the dents are extensive.
  • Damage to roofs older than the policy "roof endorsement" age. Some carriers cap roofs over 15-20 years to ACV only, even on RCV policies.

What If My Claim Was Denied or Underpaid?

It happens. Adjusters miss things, especially on quick exterior-only inspections. If you believe a claim was wrongly denied or significantly underpaid, you have the right to ask for a re-inspection or a second adjuster. We'll walk the roof with you, document any damage we find, and provide the supplemental documentation needed to support a re-evaluation. We've successfully gotten dozens of denied or underpaid claims overturned this way.
